Dizzy Question

Where would this hook up to? I'm guessing to the left side of carb and cap the back of carb port.

ps I'll be away for a bit this week so I can't reply back immediately.

Wouldn't turn over several times. Adjusted points, enough to get it sputtering to a idle with lots of gas. Found out that the ball bearing metal holder was broke and the ball bearing was rolling inside the Dizzy. Gluing the piece together didn't work. Doesn't even get close to turning over.

retard line (back of vacuum) going to back (facing front when looking at engine) of 34pict3 carb AND another advance line (top of vaccum) going to left side of carb.

Correct.

Salient Point: The STOCK timing spec only applies if you have the STOCK dizzy installed.

So.......you can no longer time this engine to 5 deg AFTER TDC. You have to time to whatever the spec is for the new dizzy.

Thanks Speedy...I knew you would be...speedy...with your answer :)

So by that link, given I have a 1600cc engine, timing would be 5 degrees ATDC? Much like your reply Apr 20/05, which was 5 degrees ATDC for my old dizzy, and 30-35 degrees BTDC at around 3000 RPM.

Sorry, I don't have the link. Could you include it with the post.

As a general answer: only dizzy's with 2 vac hoses time at 5 deg AFTER.

They have a chart there for the 'VW Mexico' or 'Bruck Vacuum'.

Thanks Jim

Ah, but it doesn't tell what to set at initially. I would just be guessing, but maybe 7.5 deg BEFORE TDC ??

Sorry for chiming in late. I didn't see the whole thread but if you are wondering what timing to use with a distributor then

has all of that.
