Electric cooling fan in a Bug?

With all the different diameter high output cooling fans available now, I have been thinking of adding one to my bug. I was thinking of modifying the firewall/luggage shelf area behind the back seat to allow the fan to fit in the engine compartment in front of the squirel cage /stock fan housing but leaving 5 or 6 inches of gap between the two. I would make an inlet to the right wheel well in order to draw in outside cooling air. This would be used most often in traffic in the Summer months.

Any of you see a problem with this application?

Thanks, Mike West/66 Chopped Bug

FWIW, I have the Setrab cooler with fan and I opted not to find a thermostat because at that time (last year) I could not find one that seemed reliable. I just turn it on after the oil temp goes up. No brainer.
