My Bus has been converted to 12 volt by the PO and the gas gauge doesn't work. There is no votlage reducer on it and I doubt they installed a 12 volt gauge, so my question is does a six volt gauge need a voltage reducer? OF course it has a 12 volt bulb in it. Thanks,

Yeah, it should have a reducer. You'd need a solid-state voltage regulator type, not a resistor. That's an old Bus? See my web site for the type gauge- yours should be voltmeter-type rather than newer thermal.
Test by grounding the wire to the sender. Also check that there actually is voltage going *to* the gauge.
You can also measure resistance of the sender to ground to see if it is good.
