is this my solution?..

hey guys, posted a lil while back about my wheels being out to far after i installed the CB disc break kits on the front and the back.. i didnt get any answers other then wider fenders which i dont wanna do. anyway, just to update.im gonna focus on the back first and ask if i might be on the rightv track. again, the car is a 65 bug, swingaxle of course. after installing rear discs on the back, the tires no longer are underneath the fenders as far as they need to be. upon further examination of what i have already, i know that we used the longer axles from an early 68 and the outer casting (?) seems to be thicker then some others that ive seen.. so, my question/theories are: what year axles are shorter then the 68 and how much shorter ? are there thinner casting/bearing holders(not sure what part is called) then what im using ? considering that the spring plates arent going to come in any more, will it make a differance? can the axles be changed with the trans in the vehicle or do i need to fully remove it ? the tranny is a built tranny(krc in riverside) ,designed to survive the 2275 motor. any info would be appreciated

I have the worst combo, 56 pan/body with 74 swing axle tranny and 7" ATS rims.... It works as in function, as the arc created by the swing tranny makes the wheels just tuck in underneath the fenders. Don't believe me? Ask Jan, he's seen it, got pictures too.
