Pulled my tank, now I have a few questions

I pulled the tank from my '73 Super yesterday. I have to admit, it was easier than I thought. I'm going to clean and seal the tank with POR-15 in hopes of getting rid of the fuel smell in the cabin. I found

2 plugged holes in the bottom back of the tank, which I believe is the culprit. There is also a bolt in the rear of the tank with a hex wrench head. What is this for and do I need to remove the bolt before sealing the tank? I also would like to replace the emission hoses. Can someone tell me the size to look for? Is there anthing else I should do while the tank is out?

Any information is greatly appreciated. And if anyone recommends other sealing products, I'd appreciate that too. Thanks.

The smell is most likely from a pourous filler hose, and maybe rotted air vent line. Is there any evidence that the tank was leaking?

I replaced the filler hose a year and a half ago. There was some residue under the tank on the body which looks like my lawn mower after I spill gas. Before I pulled the tank, my mainsuspect was the gasket for the sending unit, which I will be replacing. I plan to replace the emmission hoses also.

POR 15 is great. it will seal holes that have a diameter of about a dime.

If you got the bucks, oeveedub.com sell galvanized fuel tanks.
