I have the bare shell sat in my garage and I need it painted pretty soon but I haven't the time to sand it to bare metal myself.
I have a sprayer to prime the shell and a good price on the top coats and lacquer from another sprayer, but I need to bare metal the car very quickly.
Would shot blasting it be a problem? I'm just wondering if it's a viable option or not?
What are your thoughts / experiences?

...blasting is good as long as they are experienced with sheet metal so as not to warp it with too high of pressure. I took a 914 to bare metal in one day a feww weeks back (actually was two 4 hour days...but coulda been done in one full day) with chemical stripper.

"Aircraft Remover". Top brand for removing paint. Use only in well ventilated area unless you want to fry some brain cells. Sand/hydro/walnut shell blasting is an option, if the paint remover does not work very well (not likely), & as long as you find someone who knows what they're doing so as not to warp the metal (as mentioned by Gary). You'll most likely need to scrape off the "crud" before using the stripper or blasting. Blasting will not remove rubberized undercoating. In either event you'll need to metal prep the bare metal, then I suggest using epoxy primer & base-coat clear-coat if you want it to last. They're more expensive, though. Check with your local auto paint stor for more info on the metal prep & primer/paint. Ditzler (PPG) makes an epoxy primer. HTH, ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"
