I'm trying to find out what care this VDO comes from. The owner says it is mechanical and was installed in his beetle, but never seen it before the car he purchases.
Any idea?

Screw terminals like on the back of the gauge havn,t been used on any brand I know of since early 60,s. My Austin A50 (1955) had them. The float assembly looks home made/modified. The two floats ar fas as I can see are out of a carburetter. All the fuel gauge senders I have seen in VW,s or any other brand use one float , not two. Looks like the original float has failed and someone has used lateral thinking to make a replacement. Cheers John
