Volkswagen in Gran Turismo 4

Wow. This game is going to be beautiful, I can't beleive how real these shots look. There are two pictures of a pre '68 Beetle on these pages (click next at the bottom of the page to get to the next set). I can't tell what year it is from these pictures, but it looks pretty cool! Can't wait to mod it in the game and kill Mustangs with it.

Damn, not mine! There should be two Beetles in the final game, my '66 and the one in the screenshot - a 1949 Standard. Sony's production team came over from Japan and "borrowed" both the cars for a day and took a detailed analysis of them (about 500 photos of each, colour samples from the paint, even the weave pattern on the seats!).

Still haven't found a screenshot of my car though, but I know the 3D model of it was going to be made by one of Sony's Japanese employees who's nuts on Beetles, and has one of his own :-)

Actually, it was way more photos than that. They took over 100 just of the lights!

Yeah I knew they took a huge number of photos of each car. It's an impressive feat; I can understand why the game keeps getting delayed.
