WestCoastMetric!

Yo, dads. . . I found a new German steering box and German door seals at West Coast Metric. Seems they're still at it! Seems that they've really done a good job of increasing the number of parts they sell. WOW

- how things have changed since I first got into this old VW thing . . . some 35+ years ago!

Ha!

Guess back then they weren't OLD though, huh?

Just curious, but what brand is the steering box? TRW?

Actually they called this afternoon and said they couldn't get them anymore.

It was supposed to be a NEW German one!

SO. . . I ended up buying a re-built one from Wolfgang International.

Hi Kath:

Have not seen you on Ramva for a while. Good to see you back. Glad to see that you still have the Purple Bus. :o)

Thanks. . . it's good to be back!

Good to see that you're still here!

Her Purpleness is getting the RoyalTreatment these days. We're getting ready to sell her and we're going through everything to make sure she's still pretty rad. Blanchard was under there yesterday getting ready to replace the ORIGINAL steering box and ran in and got me so I could get under there with him and see how incredibly clean she is. That new factory engine hasn't leaked even one single drop of oil and the rebuilt transaxle looks like it did in 1968 - right off the showroom floor.

It's amazing!

I will admit that I hadn't been under her since we moved up here. And therein lies the problem! She only gets driven MAYBE once or twice a week and it's really sad! She needs to be out on the road - in the hands of somebody who will spread the joy!

It's been fun the last couple days talking to all the neat guys who work for parts places. They all seem so blown away to be hearing from a lady. They all wanted to see pix of the Old Girl and it's nice to hear their comments.

This selling concept has been a hard one to come to grips with. . . but. . . we've made the decision and now we're just gonna have to make it work.

I'll always keep the "Project" scrapbook and her trophy from the car show. . . but it's time to pass her on into the loving hands of somebody who wants to continue making people smile! It's a tough job - but I know I'll find just the right person!

I've heard lots of problems about TRW. Maybe rebuilt is the best way to get a decent box.
