What tyres for lowered Bug ?

Hi,

Just had my car lowered ... the car is loooooowwww so much so that the stock

155/50/15 tyres rub there side walls on the top of the wings ... any ideas what tyres to fit and where to get them from (i live in England , U.K ). The car is a 1964 (king and link pin) the beam is not narrowed it just has adjusters installed I've been told 135's or 145's should sort it out.

Any ideas or where to get said tyres from would be helpfull Thanks,

Reducing the first number will make the tyres thinner the second will reduce the side wall but as the side wall is a percentage of the width fitting thinner tyres will also give a smaller side wall and thus smaller diameter. Thinner tyres will give less grip and also will cause problems if you go to thin as they need to be stretched onto the rims. I would look to see if 155/40 or 145/40 are available.

depends on the width and offset of the wheels and how the cars lowered. if you have dropped spindles the tracks going to be wider too. im no expert but been told 145's are fine on standard rims if thier alloys a lot of people are using smart car tyres. not sure what the size is though sorry.

these sites are pretty good for tyres ..tend to be cheaper than getting them at a tyre fitters. you just have to take them along and pay to get them fitted.

My car is a 74 and rubbed also but I lowered by using dropped front spindles. 2 1/2" drop, I went to wider fender and the problem is gone. I am now running 195 - 15 on all 4 tires.
