HELP!!!..its to wide

hey guys/gals ,ive got what seems to be major problems. Im building a 65 bug and added the CB disc brake kits on the front and rear of the car and now both sets of tires are sticking out past the fenders. on the front of the car,it has the CB disc kit on lowered spindles with 145 tires. the wheels are aftermarket but are of stock offset.the wheels were very expensive and are not returnable, cutting the beam doesnt seem an option as the shock towers are already less then a quarter inch from the body itself. so are thinking is we need to do something outside the beam.first thought is to machine down the back of the wheel to bring it in someand possible the rotors themselves and use shorter studs but considering the wheels are aluminum the thought is thats NOT a good idea. another thought is:are there differant length trailing arms out there ? or did vw make them all the same over the years. the front end is link pin by the way. in just eye-balling a differant front end, it looked like the balljoint trailing arms were an inch shorter. is this accurate ? any suggestions how to get the tires back under the fenders. the rear is the same stuation with differant questions. i have swingaxle trans but am curious about a few things: the distance between the trans and where it bolts together isnt changeable i know that but what about the bearing assembly outside the trailing arms ? are any of those differant sizes? any suggestions or help would be apreciated

Have you thought about fiberglass wider-than-stock fenders? This may not be what you want to do... but it's surely a good option.

Perhaps an easier solution might be to purchase wider fenders. Do NOT machine down the back of the wheel! Porsche 944 rear trailing arms may work in the rear. Personally, I would get some wider fenders. ~Anthony

My question is: Is it the spindles or the disc brake hubs? I thought lowered spindles were stock offset as well as the disc brakes. Maybe you should consult with CB.

Most disc setups do increas the trackwidth by a bit...some up to an inch and some as little as a quarter of an inch....

The CB 5 on 205 mm front disc brakes, in conjunction with their lowered spindles, increase the width approximately 1/2 inch per side.
