'01 s60: front suspension noise

I've checked the undercarriage of my s60 and found nothing wrong, it seems very tight. But sometimes when I hit a dip the front end makes a springy "boing" sound. I suspect it's some electronic thing dealing with the road (mostly noticeable when I pull into my driveway, hitting a swale at very low speeds). Is this a normal phenomenon?

Paul, also sounds like this, mentioned on

TNN81-05-2004-03-10 Knocking noise when turning A knocking (or clicking) noise may occur from the front of the vehicle when turning, slowly going over bumps, and/or entering an inclined surface (driveway, parking lot etc.). The noise usually occurs when the body undergoes a twisting (flexing) motion.

The noise can originate from the bumper rail contacting the front side member(s).

Thanks. I think I need to take it for a good inspection.

It definitely is a function of frame twist. There might be something happening on normal road bumps too; not sure. Not sure what the bumper rail is.

Does that site give free information if you sign up? Or it is primarily an ordering site?

Thanks, Paul

It's free, but it only shows limited information unless you are a volvo dealer. At least you can see all the technical bulletins.

2 Things to have checked 1) The sway bar links this is a common problem 2) The strut mounts do go bad but most of the time it is the sway bar links Glenn
