How difficult is it to replace all 4 shocks on an 84 242?
Any special tools needed?

Rear shocks are easy, just basic hand tools. Front struts, as with any Macpherson strut require spring compressors and it can be tricky to remove the upper mount nut without an impact wrench. You'll need to get a front end alignment after replacement as well.
