Hello, How difficult is it to replace the front shocks on the 300E? Does it require a special tool to compress the springs?

To replace the front struts does not require a spring compressor, but a lift. NewBilsteins all around make an enormous improvement. Available discounted from Rusty Cullen at 800-741-5252. P.(he save people about $100 off a set of four).
