The car starts and runes fine in the mornings which have been cool. My drive to work is short so the gearbox doesn't usually heat up a lot. Lately during longer trips the transmission starts to exhibit problems.
1.downshifting harshly during an aggressive stop
- accelerating away from this sort of downshift is like the gearbox is spinning but not engaged, car moves into gear abruptly and drives as normal
- The worst seen to date is that the car was in gear on a residential street, warm car, warm day...I could rev the engine, and not really move faster. The car did also shift 1-2..?? Parked car for 45 mintues and drove.
Does this sound like a diagnosis can be made quickly? Is this a $100 problem or a $1500 kind of problem?
