740 odd Happenings?

Hey as you may be aware I have been suffering running problems with my '89'

740 gle. That'll be the 230e motot with the 'K' jet system.

I have it book ed in with a fuel injection/ carb and car electrical specialist tomorrow. Because I have no capabilities of checking line pressures etc..

Thing is, it is really foggy here at the minute and the car has decided it is going to run correctly now. Has anybody any idea on what the hell could give me so much guff for so long then as soon as some damp air appears it seems to fix it??

For all of those not aware of my problem, in brief: It starts fine hot and cold. Will idle fine hot or cold Will run fine up to about 3000 RPM then it will point blank refuse to go any higher unless I ease off the gas. Not so easy when driving though.

I just thought of something someone mentioned when I was having that problem with my brother's car, does the ignition have mechanical vacuum advance? Apparently sometimes the wire can break right at the pickup and when it rotates by the advance it breaks the circuit, something to check anyway. Intermittant problems are often electrical.

It suggests an electrical problem, though damp in the air normally makes things like this worse, not better. Can't reallly think what it'd be offhand.

But be sure to fill us in on the details when you find out what's wrong. I had a fiver on the control pressure regulator until you posted this.
