Are 240 parts interchangeable?

Hello,

I recently bought an '86 240 wagon (automatic) to replace my '85 240 sedan (manual). I'm wondering: Is everything under the hood interchangeable? How about brake pads, suspension components, exhaust sytem parts? I'm trying to figure what I might swap before selling my older 240 -- at a low price that reflects inferior swapped out parts, if any. Thanks in advance to anyone favoring me with a reply.

Hi,

Yes, more or less. Provided your '86 doesn't differ to much enginewise from your '85. I.e. if the engines are the same brakes and such should be the same. But please note the front brakes can be either Girling or ATE. So if one has Girling and the other ATE you're smoked. Mind you, over here I have never seen ATE on the fron brakes on any model. Rear should be ATE under all circumstances. Also, depending on horespower, front brakediscs can be either ventilated or not. Suspension is the same overall. Exhaust system: If identical engines this should also be identical.
