Easy AMM question

Read that unplugging the air mass meter and replugging would clean the contacts and help with general overall good running.

Is there a special procedure that I should follow ?? I do not want to fry my AMM - just because I should have undone the battery - as an example.

Thanks, Andrew in AL

I was recently told by mechanic that my 945T had bad AMM. Wanted $580 to R&R. I saw the price from suppliers was $150-200. Looked like about a 15 minute job. Unplugged the lead going to the meter and both male and female contacts were corroded with white flakey film. I used emery paper (wet dry 800 sandpaper) and cleaned the contacts, sprayed with contact cleaner and reconnected. Now have about 300 miles without recurrent problem.

Did you disable the battery?
