I need to replace the original cassette radio on my '84 240 turbo sedan. it's the one that mounts low, right in front of the stick shift. does anyone have a model they recommend? I prefer cassette to CD, something powerful enough to drive the four speakers, something that will fit nicely in the oddly shaped space Volvo designed, and maybe black to match the interior if that's not asking too much. Under $150.00, too. I'm probably being too picky, but thought I'd ask.

Mounting kits are available that nicely install a standard DIN unit in either location in a 240. Can't recommend a specific unit but just go to a car stereo place and see what they have, probably won't be much of a selection of cassette decks (don't even know anyone who still has one of those) but on the plus side the ones you do find are likely to be less flashy and ridiculous looking than so many of the modern head units.
I have found Crutchfield to be invaluable when it comes to car stereo installations.

I have yet to find something I like better than the cheap Blaupunkt CD I have in my 240, the faceplate is clean and nicely laid out, unit is black with a green backlit display that looks right at home in the car. Doesn't matter if I can see the buttons or not, they're laid out logically so after a couple weeks I didn't have to even look at the thing to operate it.
