I have a noisy fuel pump. I am advised its either the pump under the floor or the pump in the fuel tank.
If I don't fix this soon what will happen, will the car just fail on me.

How does it sound? I got a 89 740 with 175,000 KM... i'm beginning to hear a sound too. Sounds like a light buzzing sound once in a while... wonder if that's it.

I have the same sound from my 91 940 270.000 Km When intank pump went bad car was hard, sometimes almost impossible to start, if you don't have starting trouble or hesitation while driving your pump is probably OK. My main fuel pump ha been making intermittent noise for at least 50.000 Km
