repaint job on 90 Volvo 740 turbo by MAACO

Just a question for expericne concerning a repaint I am considering?

The body is overall in good shape (no dents, clean body) but the (red non-metalic) color has fainted and on the roof a paint job was done by the previous owner's years ago and now the surface glossy layer is coming off, as well at some of the edges the car has been polished that much that you can start seeing the grey primer layer.

MAACO made a estimation for a paint job including striping the hood, roof and trunk at more or less 1000$, they do give a 3 year warranty (I do not have warranty conditions yet) ultra-urethane level coating (including value prep) whatever that means neither do I have a description of the paint layer tickness/quality. At this price they will not take off the windows/accesories except the side moldings that I would do by myself. A local paint shop would do a thorough repaint (take everything off) for

3500$ but that is to high compared with the value of the car (I guess somewher between 3 and 5000$)

So my question are:

1) does anyone experience with the quality at MAACO (might be center dependent?)
formatting link
2) how can they guarantee 3 years with stripping the roof till bare metal without taking the (window) moldings off 3)any other issues I should think about?

Thanks for your input

You get what you pay for. Value prep is just as it sounds; cheap. Preparation is a large part of a paint job, and if they cut corners there (and they will), then the final result will be affected. There's no way around that. My sister got a Maaco job on her car a few years back. It looked terrible in

Friend of mine had his Hyundai Excell painted by Maaco - the body was in generally good shape, minus a couple points with some rust which were fixed, sanded, primed etc...

The paint looked okay for about a week, until he took it to the carwash and paint started peeling off. They fixed it... It happened again, he took it back, the guy said THIS IS TE LAST TIME WE WILL FIX IT (on the three year warranty) The current fix isn't as bad as the one before, but no there is a drip mark, and one slight peel.

Can it be repaired? Sometimes you can re shoot the clear coat. Being non metalic, You can wet sand the paint and not worry about messing up the flakes.
