Passenger Door Windows Switch on 1998 XC70

Dear All,

I was wondering if anyone would have some tips to share regarding the removal of a power window switch on the passenger door of a 1998 70 series wagon? We have a faulty or corroded switch in my wife's wagon and I cannot get the switch assembly out of the door panel. The single Torx screw in the arm rest does not release the panel and I am very reluctant to try to muscle it out.

Any suggestions, hints, tips, links, prayers... would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,

Dan

You can actually pry the switch assembly out without removing the door panel, but I've never done it, or seen it done without leaving at least a small gouge in the surround. To remove the door panel, after removing the screw, remove also the surround on the inner release handle (hard to remove and sharp enough to cut you!) Then there's clips around the lower half of the door panel, just pull it out. I always start at the lower front corner. It's hooked over the top, with the bottom release, push up to unhook it. There are a couple of wires to disconnect, make sure you remember to reconnect them when you put the panel back on. Note you don't need to (and can't) remove the lock button, and if you try to twist it off you'll wreck it.
