V70 2.4 Fuel

I have twice filled my 2.4 V 70 and had 620 miles to a full, full, full tank.

The tank holds 70 litres so an that count I get 62 miles to 7 litres.

On that count I am getting 6.2 miles to the litre.

Does that sound about right.

620 divided by 70 = 8.85 But you have to fill it, start the trip meter then use the amount it takes to refill after the measured miles, not the tank size (unless it actually used 70 litres). I dunno what's normal, but I'm too lazy to work out what litres per mile means in either MPG or litres/100km.

Yes you are right its 8.85 miles per litre.

Petrol is 81, per litre in the U.K where I live so its costing around 10p per mile to run the car.

My old 1988 740 was costing me 11 p per mile so I know it was an old car but only 1986cc as apposed to the 2.4 V 70

that's slightly over 40mpg, sounds pretty good, what sort of driving is that ?

I drive on low revs and get up the gears as quick as possible.

I thought I was hitting around 30 mpg not 40.

Unless its a diesel the top mpg you'll get from a v70 would be around

35-36mpg on a long easy motorway 50-60mph type run unlaiden.

You'll find best mpg by keeping the engine inthe 1800-2500rpm area, irrespective of what gear your in. Below those revs you'll get better mpg by using a lower gear.

Bear in mind these engine dont like being habitually run at low rpm and load and can get very sluggish and un-responsive after a time without being driven hard once in a while.

Around about 420miles from our 2.5 10v manual over varied driving. (UK) The computer says 30.8 - 33mpg - the higher figure in the summer.

not sure what that works out to be... Tim..
