Does anyone out there have any idea how to fix the fuel injection on my 85 GTI, 1.8 8V?? It has a horrible stumble when I press down on throttle. At full throttle it bucks like a crazed quarterhorse. I took it to a local (NJ) dealer and they could not find anything except my wallet. The car is in great shape except for the "gas" problem. I would like to start autocrossing the car next spring but I can't do it is the car doesn't run. Engine is totally stock, I hav e installed new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, CV joints, fuel pump and filter, halfshafts, wheel bearings, shift linkage and other parts too numerous to mention. Any suggestions wouled be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like the boot from the fuel distributor to the intake manifold is possibly cracked or loose. I would check there first by taking it off and completely examining it! later, dave Reminder........ Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them, and you have their shoes. Frieda Norris
