98 TDI Turbo oil supply line.

Oct 13, 2003 5 Replies

The oil supply to the turbo on my 98 TDI broke today right at the fitting on the turbo. Lost most of my oil and had to tow the car home.Considering replacing it with 3/8" copper and compression fittings. Comments on this?? Anyone out there with this same failure? Could easily ruin an engine or turbo.

Do not use copper. If anything, a braided steel jacketed line would be the best.

Thanks for the counsel Tundra. What are sources for braided steel jacketed line? Later Jimmie

Why not just use what VW put on the engine when new? No hassles then.

Looking to improve on the OEM. It failed.

Gee... something on your car broke after 6 years! Personally I'm one in not trying to re-invent the wheel.
