The question is:
Do the A3's kill the hubs like the A1's? i.e. replace hub when doing bearing is an automatic choice?

No... the hubs are only damaged when an owner drives forever on a bad bearing.

I've done probably 30-35 and hae never had any luck reusing hubs. Cost more to screw with the races than to just use a new one.

howabout...........Forever is when the wheel bearing starts to come apart and the vehicle can't really be driven anymore. ;-)
my stats: I have only changed maybe 3 hubs out of at least 100 front wheel bearing changes. And with a bearing separator, I have had an easier time removing the race off the hub too! :-)
