A Few Questions and Observations

Papa:

With respect: If someone spoofs my e-mail address, that affects only me. If someone neglects their vehicle and causes an accident, the ripples are endless. I use my real name and my real e-mail as I take other precautions against spoofing, but also because I have nothing to hide.

It is a pretty simple concept.

Yes, and unnecessarily reckless - as those who have been bombarded by virus attacks or worse will attest. A virus attack or even, God forbid, identity theft is made much easier to accomplish when one broadcasts their real e-mail address, their real name, and their city and state to the world. Hopefully that won't happen to you, but why take the chance?

One more very simple concept:

Sh*t happens.

Be prepared if it does. But do not live in fear of it.

I prefer to opine openly. I prefer not to hide from the consequences of my actions (and words). In a world that has become more and more focused on avoidance and denial, such focus on both individual lives and community spirit is cumulatively devastating. I did not mean for this thread to devolve into politics and personal life-style, but there you have it.

Very brave of you, and good luck. You're going to need it - since you definitely are NOT prepared.

By the way, "hiding" has nothing to do with it. I speak up with my real name, telephone number, and address all the time at city hall, in the newspapers and with letters to and meetings with political leaders. In that there is NECESSARY risk, but the coverage is much greater and does much more good than a small voice in a forum like this. Anyone with half an ounce of common sense doesn't need any unsolicited advise from you about automotive safety. For those with less brains, no amount of preaching will help.

And yes, you DID "mean for this thread to ...". The very pomposity of your original post showed that.
