A4 Jetta Seat Heaters?

My wife has commented on how nice it is that her friends' Passat has heated seats. I would like to get one for her '00 Jetta.

Does anyone have any experience with brands/sources/installers?

Thanks, Tom Bristol, CT, where it's -2 F and falling

I once did some computer contract work for Inalfa, now known as American Sunroofs - Inalfa. They supply after-market seat heaters to, among others, Zeibart.

Make sure that the person you're working with knows auto upholstery (that's the key), since the install involves the removal of the seat's covering in order to put the pad between the cushions and the fabric/leather. The aftermarket unit is basically a small electric blanket, with a thermostat to regulat the temp and a switch that will go somewhere on the dash. It's simple technology, but its sucess depends on the installer.

Nice warm buns.... Your wife is right, once you experience seat heaters in winter you'll never go back.

I did get the seat heater for my wife's A4 Jetta installed by a local upholstery shop. They did a great job installing, very clean and it works like a dream. One caution, apparently if you turn the key on with the seat removed, it notices that the side airbag unit is missing and sets the airbag light. Local dealer reset the light for no charge (to me anyway).

Tom It's warmed up to almost freezing.
