Changing dashboard light bulbs

Hi all,

I just need to access (how ???) an replace (by what ??) the dashboard bulbs -- those that light up the odometer and stuff from behind. It is on a 91 passat. Difficult ? Where can I get those bulbs ?

Thanks,

Fairly easy job... you have to remove some of the dash trim that surrounds the cluster. The trim is snapped into place and held down with screws. I don't know the locations of all the screws off the top of my head for your Passat though... anyone?

As for the bulbs, local VW part dept should have them in stock, they cost just a few dollars for a set of them. Sometimes you can pop the wheatbulb out of the plastic holder and get replacement bulbs at Autozone... sometimes you can't remove the bulbs from the plastic holder though and thus making it a dealer only item.

Best thing I can suggest is get a Bently Manual for your Passat, from there you can figure out how to take the cluster out without any problems.
