Has anybody else had problems with the plastic radiator cooling fan?
We have a '99 Eurovan. Recently, when the AC kicked on, the plastic cooling fan came apart. I ended up having to get a new one from VW. Unfortunately, it only comes with a new motor, for about $250. After installing the new maotor and fan, the second fan came apart the first time the AC turned on.
When I installed the fan, I checked both for clearance and free movement, so I do not believe that there was anything that it hit. Perhaps whatever broke the first fan also damaged the second one.
Anybody have any similar problems? Equally important, anybody know of a source for the plastic fan without having to buy the motor too? The fan does easily unclip from the motor shaft.
