In the engine compartment there as a thin grounging strap...How important is this ground..Also there are two brown wires communig out of the harness, I saw on another engine these were grounded too. My car runs very bad I was wondering if its dur to grounding problems?

Well it will not run without a good ground. As for why you car does not run well, that could be almost anything.
Grounds are very important. I have one on my house.
