Hi everyone...
I've been looking at a 2001 Audi A4 - V6 model, same engine as the Passat from the same era.
How are people liking this engine, fuel economy wise, maintenance wise etc? The mechanic who wants to sell the car told me it's way more robust than the
1.8T, won't sludge up unless you're stupid about oil changes, said the Timing belt/waterpump is an item to check up on - but that's it and the same holds true for all DOHC engines anyays (he says).
Engine has 80K Kms on it, when you rev it, it sounds incredible - revs quite quickly too!! Power is decent for a heavy car, tho it won't push you in your seat... power above 4000rpm seemed to be where the engine was strongest at, and low end power... lots of grunt from right off the line... midrange seemed flexible, but slightly weak.... im used to the low and midrange punch of a TDI engine tho.
