Lost wedding ring in 2004 Jetta

Aug 01, 2006 1 Replies

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I lost my wedding ring while sitting on the front passenger seat of Jetta 2004. It happened very quickly , but I have noticed where the ring went: into the seat belt opening on the floor. I saw the ring right on top of the opening along with a dime coin, but when I tried to get it out, I guess I pushed it in and it dissapeared. My husband searched the car next to the seat, cut the panel where the seat belt comes from in half - no luck. Could it have fallen out of the car through some opening? Where could it go? Where does that seat belt opening lead? Please help me...

Hi, Did you find your ring? As far as I know, working on older VWs, and as long as you do not have rust holes, it is unlikely your ring has fallen through the floor and onto the ground. If you have not done so yet, try unscrewing or unclipping the passenger doorsill panel. The should allow you to lift up the carpeting and feel underneath to see if your ring is there. Regarding where the seat belt goes, the end of your seat belt would be anchored to the floor or to the frame, not far from the floor.

As an option, find an object of similar size and density at your ring, and drop it where you saw the other one go. Do the same type of hand movement trying pick it up and see where the object ends up. it could be that your ring a someplace completely different. I resort to this when I can't find a bolt or nut I've dropped, I drop another one and see where it goes. Most times, the second bolt is not too far away from the first one.

Good luck.
