Mark IV Jetta lights...

I know there are ways out there to disable the DRL's on these things, but is there a way to make it so you can turn on just the parking lights? Light a

3 position switch (off, Parking lights, all lights)?

Google for a Euro spec light switch. They allow for parking lights without DRL. I have one on my NB. I use it in fog or snow at night where the headlamps cause excessive bounce back and reduce vision while the fog lights do much better by themselves.

BTW why do you want to disable the DRL's ?

Pull the DRL relay (173?) and replace the light switch with a "Euro" one. There is a place in LA that sells them online, but I got one off Ebay much cheaper. The switch is a plug-n-play replacement and takes all of 2 minutes to change out. Pulling the relay only takes a little longer because you have to remove the cover above the pedal area to get to the relay panel.

Before I got the switch, I considered wiring up the yellows as DRL's, because I've got nothing against the concept of DRL's, just using near-full-on headlights as them. Never got around to that, though, but the fact that the Euro Switch allows this suggests that it would be fairly easy to implement. Just find the pin on that connector that runs the yellows, and shunt the output of the DRL relay to it instead of to the headlights.

...Sean.
