According to the Haynes Carburettor Manual the 3 point unit (or throttle plate actuator) on a Pierburg 2E2 takes up three positions:
1) fully extended for cold starting
2) partially extended for normal idle
3) fully retracted
It moves to position (3) when power to the "electrical switchover valve" is cut. Which is supposed to happen when the ignition is turned off (to prevent run-on) or the engine speed exceeds 1200 rpm (for deceleration).
Can anyone confirm that it does actually retract to position (3) above 1200 rpm on a 1989 1.6 Golf? I have seen two which don't and can't see anything on the the wiring diagram to do this. What am I missing??
