San Jose, CA area VW service?

I hate to take my car (2001 VR6) to the dealer for service - I think it's a huge waste of money. Can anyone recommend an independent shop in the San Jose Bay Area that is good?

Thanks

I used to go to New Dimensions for my '82 Jetta, my '01 Passat, and my '01 Eurovan. But New Dimensions went downhill after an ownership change. They've since gone out of business.

One of the old hands at New Dimensions opened his own shop. We took the Passat there for a major 80k service and Chris was great. Check him out:

Thanks, I did call Chris, and will consider him.

Autowerkstat, Bugformance, Streetwerke. My short list after the demise of New Dimensions (RIP)

Keep on Plonkin'

Which Bugformance, and what do you have worked on there? I had an aircooled motor and a tranny rebuilt at the Capitol Rd one a few years back, but I do my own maintenance on the aircooled car.
