Wax shop in San Jose

Could anyone recommend a shop for wax? Because of an accident, my 2001 got a new bumper and the hood and left fender were repainted, so I probably need to wax it. Is it better to do it myself or have a body shop wax it for me? Usually how much is the labor? Thanks in advance. Allen

Ask the shop that repainted it. My shop told me not to wax it for 6 months, IIRC.

My shop said "45 days no car wash, no wax." ?

No problem washing it after 45 days but I wouldn't hurry to wax it, probably best to wait at least 2-3 months but what is this with people thinking that they have to PAY someone to wax a fender?! Do they not have the ability or have they been drinking the koolade so long that they really believe EVERYTHING is best if you PAY FOR IT?

Sorry, I just don't understand, Chris

Do you do your own brain surgery? I'd let a specialist, they know more than I ever will about brains.

If you were building a house, would you hang your own dry wall? I'd hire one of those crews that will hang the whole house in an afternoon. It is a whole lot cheaper than me doing it.

I can change my oil, but for the last 12 years, I've paid someone else to, because I didn't want to get dirty, get the drive oil splattered, or buy the tools.

I can easily understand someone not wanting to wax a car. It is a lot more work than changing oil. A specialist will probably do it faster and better than someone who has never waxed before.

That said, recently I decided to start doing a lot of my own auto work again for the security that I know it is done right. If I could find a motivated mechanic, I wouldn't.

I could wash it almost immediately, just not wax it. I guess it may have to do with the type of paint or the thickness at which it is applied.
