Still not getting an asnwer.... HELP!

I'm trying to get to the air conditioning box. I see the bottom two screws but to get to the top two, I need to take the lower padded dash off. How the hell do I do this? I removed 4 screws but that didn't do jack.

What type car do you have? On my 81 rabbit convertible to remove the kneeboard (lower padded dash) you must remove 2 nuts (13 mm) and 2 bolts (also 13 mm). The nuts go on permanently attached studs. The kneeboard has slots cut into it so that it slides in/off over these studs to align it when installing it so that you can get the bolts in place (so the nuts do not need to be completely removed just loosened but it won't hurt to take them all the way off). The bolts go though holes in the kneeboard (not slots) and must be completely removed before the kneeboard can slide out. The nuts/studs are directly in front of the bolts. I am sure about this as I just had mine out last week. If I remember your original post I believe that you wanted to check if your AC drain was plugged. I had never checked mine before so I didn't reply. Last night I took a look for mine for the first time and on mine you do not need to remove the kneeboard to check the line. The cover is held on by one screw on the passenger side by the floor.

It is nice to know what you are working on like year and model. :-) Different cars might have parts and different methods to remove them!

Do you have a center console that needs to be removed first? Are you talking about the four screws/bolts that are accessed when you open up the doors? Got a Bentley or Haynes at least?

It's a 93 Cabriolet. I think it might be a little different.

Actually, an 81 and a 93 Cabriolet share ALOT of things....I would follow seharre's advice and give what he is suggesting a shot. The Cabriolet was built on the A1 platform for a very long time..from 197?-1993, so many things are quite similar.
