Wrong Head Gasket???

Sep 02, 2003 4 Replies

I just recieved my head gasket I ordered from Auto Parts Place. The gasket covers 1 hole completely and another partly. Is this suppose to be like this? It is for an 84' Jetta GL(w/fuel injection) with engine

1.7l code "EN", and head has a big "H" 1.6 on it.

Thanks in advance, Jerritt

If you look on the head itself, you'll probably find that the hole that the gasket covers is blocked on the head anyway, so there is no need for the hole in the gasket. Most head gaskets i've seen for some reason have smaller holes for some of the waterways, not sure why this is. It should be fine.

Cheers, Paul

What about new valve guides. Valve stem seals do not last long if the valve guides are worn.
