Cracked where? Maybe your starter? Is the engine stock?

It is cracked around the crankshaft mounting bolts. Once is a fluke. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is a trend. GM agreed and halved it with me. Which means I got it at cost.

Same shop fix it the other times? Wrong part? Over torqued? Same mechanic? Here in Florida, three times, and they can't fix it, it qualifies for the "Lemon Law". Get's you a new one.

Andy,

I found your post because I was searching for somebody else that has experienced this.

Just got out from underneath (literally) our 2001 K2500 Suburban. Not only is the flexplate cracked, but pieces are breaking off and causing more damage. I don't think I can afford to take it to somebody to repair. Can you give me an idea what it costs and how fast a shop could fix it. And what symptoms it had. Ours has had a loud clunking noise attributed to this, but now other stuff is making noise too.

Tonight, have found a couple of references to thicker, stronger flexplates in the aftermarket. If I install myself, will definitely pursue buying one of those.

What I'm worried about, though, is another noise, like glass beads loudly shaking in a tin can, down in the general vicinity of this problem... did you ever have that symptom occur?

Did you have other problems with the engine? Ours is extremly noisy in the top end, also. Am pretty disappointed right now. This vehicle cost us $40,

000 and although it has 90K miles now, it has been used very, very lightly.

I heard this flexplate issue was comm>Have flywheels become a consumable item like brake pads? 2004 6.0 auto
