Dave-- welcome. There are a few great tech people on this site who know Chevys inside and out. Not a lot of Camaro general discussion though...I'd like to see more. During the winter months I go through withdrawal if I don't talk cars, doesn't help to talk w/ my wife, she doesnt' 'get it'. That's why I'm sersiouly thinking over the idea of starting a Camaro club in my area....

Damn, if you lived in nw Wisconsin, I'd start up a club w/ you-- There is a club about 40 miles from me, in the twin cities (www.northstarcamaroclub.com) but I 'd like to get one going in the town I live in...it's not exactly convenient to driver 40 miles in an old Camaro, then go cruising, then driver 40 miles back home on a saturday night... I'd like to get a more infomal club going, how else can you get older people who have expensive classic cars together w/ teenagers who want to get into it?

You're at whitewater, right, or platteville? I can't remember which. Anyway, yes you're right 40 miles isn't far, though there are a few classic car nuts here where I live who love talking about GM cars.
Last year we drove into the twin cities almost every weekend to cruise, or just hang out in St Paul, on a warm night there are plenty of old cars on the streets, some street racing also later, after 11 or midnight. Last summer after the hot rod nationals event in St Paul, that night people were all over downtown, sitting around in lawn chairs on the sidewalks just waiting to breathe some exhaust... ...we have a few months go until that starts up again, though!--

If you want to hear something funny, Sue used to live with in small arms range of my old house. When she figured out who I was, I was pretty much un-welcome at any of her T/A events.

Hello Dave
I am new here too (I just became the proud owner of a 1987 Camaro LT, with only 30K miles, but its a 2.8-V6/4sp Auto).
I couldn't help but notice your sig, and I wasn't aware tha they made Berlinetta's in 87. What I read was that 86 was the last year and they were replaced by the LT for 87. Anyone have any further info on this ?

Hi Mike. Welcome to the group. I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm sure someone (Bigjfig? GLK?) will...

I believe 1986 was the last year for the Berlinetta model. Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 27k orig. '79 "Y89" 400/4 speed 10th Ann. T/A, 57k orig '84 Olds 88 Royale Bgm 2 dr, 307 "Rocket" (lol), 143k and still going....

Speaking of Berlinettas, has anyone seen a new book, entitled "Automotive atrocities: the cars we love to hate"? I think it's copyright 2003. It's very superficial but funny has hell, has all the classics, Pinto, Gremlin, Pacer, LeCar, etc, but if I'm not mistaken they also include a Berlinetta....maybe it was a Firebird, I can't remember...it's the kind of book you can read in one hour, but worth checking out, the author takes some nice swings at various auto manufactuers' awful ideas. Wasn't the Berlinetta supposed to make the Camaro more appealing to female performance car types?

Actually,     To the best of my knowledge, Dave is correct. I'm not aware of any '86.5 or '87 Berlinetta packages. The 2.8L A4 was available in '86 and FULLY loaded in pristine condition will probably still run ye' < 2K. I happen to like the Berlinetta package, but then ... my tastes are always a bit outside the mainstream. (A fully loaded 5.0L M5 in the same condition will also probably be in the 2K range ... maybe a little bit more; it all depends on where you live and availability.)
However, I'm not familiar with any LT tim package either. I know there was a Sport Coupe; perhaps that is what the orig. poster is referring to.

Something those of us who live in America forget: GM of Canada used different trim names, and some times vehical brands on car sold both sides of the border. A few good Examples are the Chevy Bouemonts which are Chevelles. Not to mention the Pontiac Tempest, which is a Chevy Corsica, only sold in Canada as a Tempest (would have sold good here in America under that name with a diferent front end).
Ford sold King Cobra's in Canada for many years after they stopped selling a mustang labeled that in america. Charles

I have only ever seen one 1988 to 1995 Canadian tempest (chevy corsica). It was smashed hard enough that the front bumber was part of the fire wall. so I didn't know they had different front ends. Charles
