turbo t/a distributer question

The Ohio EPA E-Check Sucks A$$, its a waste of time and money, but the good thing they now do is, on all OBDII cars that have a functioning ALDL connector, the tech plugs right in and can automaticly pass/fail the vehicle

granted I like PA's idea, of state inspections being done at repair facilities. But as a mechanic, and being from Ohio and having lived in PA, finding a tech position is hard, due to the fact 98% of all repair facilities are PA State Inspection Stations (as well as dealerships) and almost all of them require a state inspection license before employing techs, and coming from out of state, that was extremely hard for me.

Joe, this will prove I am right (for once...) this webpage header came from alldata.com

Automotive Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins for 1987 Pontiac Safari Wagon V8-305 5.0L.

so I was right, the 87-89 Safari Wagons COULD come with Chevy 305s OR BOP

307s

watch, I will never be right again LOL

Alldata is frequently wrong :). Do not trust it.

The Delco carburetor book shows a 307 :).

Charles: I haven't had a chance to look yet. I do not believe anyone and everyone can just order a 9C1. NO!! Those square wagons were carbureted. The 305 vin E was not used in those wagons. It was in the later "bubble" style Caprice/B body variants.

I was right. LOL. The only engine in that 87 Safari you had was a 307 vin Y. GM's parts books, engine charts and data all confirm it.

now time to shoot my dad LOL

17 years after he bought it, he says he thought he was told he got a 305...

now the old man (yeah yeah, he's 60 lol) says he knew it was a BUICK engine aka a THREE OH SEVEN!

so I just found out and Im like "thanks dad, Im arguing with people on the Trans Am newsgroup about it!" as I chuckled and walked back to my computer....so Joe, I owe you an appology

Im sorry I argued, but my dad made me think I was right

now I do think, and Im almost sure his 80 Caprice was a 305 lol

1980 Caprice could have been a 305 or a 350, OR a a 350 Olds diesel :).

No apology needed. GM confused enough consumers back then :) Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 27k orig. '79 "Y89" 400/4 speed 10th Ann. T/A, 57k orig '84 Olds 88 Royale Bgm 2 dr, 307 "Rocket" (lol), 143k and still going....
