i have a Escort 1997 SE , and since about 1 month i cannot switch off the
A/C , i go to the side of the heater ( right ) and the air conditioning
still work , i have to put heat so i dont freeze , so what should i look for
to repair it and where is it located on the car .
thank's in advance for all your trouble
If the Off position is 12 o'clock, the 1 o'clock position (1st position
to the right) is bi-level output (air from the dash vents and from
the heater vents below). The A/C is ON in this position, believe it
So, there's nothing to fix. This is how it was designed to work.
To avoid using the A/C (and killing your gas mileage), use either
the vent position (11 o'clock) or the heater position (2 o'clock).
The A/C is also on in the two defrost positions, to help reduce
the humidity when defogging the windows.
