Just bought a Toyota Estima Emina with 110,000 on the clock. I think it must be reading in km: it had 93K on its first UK MOT and I have a stack of what appear to be service records from before it was imported - in Japanese of course - and they have various km figures recorded up to 92K.
I'm obviously quite interested to know if it's had a new cambelt. Anyone know the service intervals (in km!)? I've heard 70K miles which would be about 110k km so I guess it would be due about now. (No UK records of it having been done, natch :-().
If anyone wants to take a look the service records are at
I thought Japan had something about a new engine having to be fitted every 30,000 miles - just wondering how this ties in with the first known UK service...
The few grey imports I've seen that needed a cambelt change had a sticker on the belt cover that showed the mileage (kilometre-age?) it had been changed at. Obviously you wouldn't be able to read most of it :) but it's got a number with "km" behind it on it...
I've had a few imports, including some that had done about
120,000kms, a Skyline that had done about 115,000 with evidence of a cambelt change in Japan at 90 (I think) and a Eunos Roadster that had done > 120k with a cambelt change around 100k.
I have looked through annual service reports (the ones with pictures - others are Shaken - MOT - certificates) and other than routine consumable items, the car hasn't had any replacement parts, and no new cam belt. Mr Yamamoto, the previous owner, obviously looked after it well. The final 92k report is dated 5 Oct 2001.
Seem to be all friends now: they refer to each other as sister sites. However the owner of .com is in uk, of .org is in Canada (and seems to be the slightly older site)
