Hi all, I am considering buying a MINI and I had a question about the motor's power. I am a 6'2", 300+ lbs man. I like the MINI because even at my size, I have more room in that vehicle than in many others I have tried (plus. the look on people's faces when they would see me getting out of this tiny car would be priceless!)
My only concern is about the motor. I'm affraid it might be sluggish with me and a passenger in it. I guess I could go with the "s" but I find the regulal model roomier (and more affordable).
Anyone have any advice/experiences to share with me on this?
The S and the Cooper have the same room inside (and the S is only a fraction longer outside).
Best bet is to go for a test drive at the dealers with the dealer rep. in the car with you? Nobody can really say how quick is quick enough for your liking.
Could be an added length due to air dam, but we are nitpicking here and only a moron will even consider the smallest car in the US if size is an issue. Sometimes Men I tell you I don't know what folks are smoking. There are far roomier cars out there that will leave even the Cooper S in the dust.
As the moron who posted the original question, I might specify that it's not a matter size but of roominess. I have tried over two dozen vehicles and only in a handfull of those was I truly comfortable. Amongst those I tried, the Jeep Liberty and tj, the Honda Element, the Mazda Tribute, the Santa Fe, and many more. I also tried some minivans and many cars.
Two main obstacles always poped up. Either the driver's seat didn't go back far enough or the space between the steering wheel and the seat (yes, even with an adjustable steering column) was insufficient. I should note that I do weight training so my legs are very thick.
In the cars that I found I was comfortable in, I can cite the Passat, the Altima, the New Beetle, and the 300M.
You can imagine my surprize at the amount of comfort and roominess I found in the Mini. Obviously, this is not my only reazon. Although I am sure there are many vehicles that offer a better performance, the Mini offers a unique driving experience by its very character.
That said, I am open to suggestions. I would welcome any input on similarly priced vehicles that you think would offer me an equal amount of roominess and performance.
