Problems in cold weather?

Hello Everyone :)

Just curious... I've had my mini BOC for... 3 weeks now (YAY!) but in the last couple of days she's had some trouble with the cold (we've had snow and very cold temps). Monday evening, for example, we had driven to a town nearby to have dinner with family, but she hadn't been used since Friday evening. She started up fine, but after driving for around 20 minutes I had to come to a stop at a traffic signal where she just died. I started her up again no problem and we got to the restaurant, a couple of hours later home and no incidences.

Tuesday morning I drove her to work, again, started up fine, drove for about 30 minutes on the motorway, came to my exit near work and had to slow down for traffic, where she died again. I coasted to the side of the slip road and waited a couple of minutes - after 3 short attempts she started up again. On the way home, 8 hours later, she was fine.

This morning no incidence. Would it be popular opinion that my 15 year old car is just cold? Or should I go ahead and take her in to get checked out?

Thanks in advance Pinky

Sounds distinctly like a case of "carb icing"

Do you have the connections for a "water heated manifold"...???

If so get them hooked up, it makes quite a difference. alternatively get yourself a bit of card board behind your grill.. (to cover just a little more than the middle 3rd).

It's a fairly common thing, and my 30 has problems with this but i normally just use a bit of cardboard.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mick. Not sure if I have the connections for a water heated manifold. Will check into that.

Otherwise, thanks for the cardboard tip! I told my boyfriend about it and he said "easy!" :-) I'm glad!

many thanks - glad I can come here and ask questions!
