Dan's Funeral

I know that PeteM has already posted an update with the funeral details, but I thought I would add something, because I live very close to York station, on the East Coast Main Line, and about an hour from the funeral. If anybody is thinking about taking the train* and you want a lift, let me know.

Also and I don't think anybody would take this as disrespectful, if we have a number going, perhaps we could have a URCM wake at a certain chippie in Wetwang?

*yes, I know, it's horrendous to even suggest that anybody takes the train to what might be a UCRM meet. Sorry.

LOL - I already suggested on an MSN conversation that said chippie could potentially cater for the wake.....

Might be a plan - I'll keep it in mind. York makes a lot more sense than Driffield in terms of actually getting back at all that evening in terms of online rail journey planners....

I'll take that lift with PeteM. I wonder if they could outside cater from the the chippy.

There's no way I can make the funeral unfortunately, but if there's a charity or something to make donations to on Dan's behalf can you let us know? Or perhaps we could arrange a UKRCM pot or some UKRCM flowers in the shape of a Clio or summat? Either way please keep my southern shandy drinking ass in the loop!

Yes, absolutely. And I'm ten minutes from the station. Ten minutes walk. Fifteen by car on a Monday lunchtime I'm sure. :-p

You wouldn't believe how much. To get to York from Driffield, you've either got to go by bus or if you go by train, spend an hour going the wrong way to Scarborough to jump on the train to York.

I do some work for a florists - if anyone is serious about an arrangement I'll ring her tomorrow.

Before doing flowers, I think it would be best to consult Nom to see if that's what the family want.

Many families prefer charitable donations over flowers.

is our preferred charity. They pay for Doctor's Contracts and Medical Research and Equipment, and they make the teenage unit in Leeds bearable (ie, it's equipped with Playstations and stuff). A brilliant bunch of folk if ever there was one. I suspect this will involve someone sorting out a collection, and then posting a cheque - there's not much information on their website...

Nom Will look into this and sort it out.
