If you are going to keep it, keep it cheap. If you are going to spend money on it, even though you don't like it anymore, then you can afford to sell it, put it with the money you were going to spend on a kit, and get something else instead.

Respray? Ask around.

Do NOT fit a wide boy kit or big wheels. A late Vitara 1.6 (which IIRC the 4u2 is) is a perfectly decent handling B-road car and quite enjoyable. A wide boy kit ruins this, ruins the off-road capability, makes the steering entirely unpleasant, and the turning circle even more diabolical.

Also, a good straight Vitara, be it P or K plate, can fetch £2K. They're almost depreciation proof. Mess with it and you'll make it a chavved up banger worth £800 tops, and you'll spend £1,500 doing so.

If you want to tidy it up, the softtop (if it has one) is probably grotty - a new one makes it feel almost like a new car as all the velcro and bits seal properly again.
