truck overheating

I've got a 94 Nissan truck 2.4 liter w/ an auto tranny.

Since I put a new tranny in the truck over heats - I began to notice the fan began to shut off almost as soon as it came on - now it doesn't come on at all. When I'm driving on the highway it cools down to normal so I think it must be a temp sensor and not the thermostat.

Any ideas where to locate the temp sensor?

could be the electric fan is just old and worn out, therefore runs for a bit then stops

could also be the temp switch which s'posed to turn the fan on when the engine warms up

When I asked a Nissan specialist why the electric fan on my 1985 Bluebird car runs continuous, even with a cold engine, he said that they had a dudd temp switch from new, and that within a couple of years, they'd all be re-wired to just run with the ignition all the time (the Datsun-Nissan official replacement switch being over $ 100 to replace)

I actually then started to unplug the electric feed to my fan, on cold Winter mornings, so the engine warms up quicker and the heater/demister work quicker

Later I just plug the elctric fan's power plug back in (convenient plug thing)

NOTE the second electric fan, which is s'posed to come on with the aircond, never works, it's just old and buggered (will sometimes turn for a bit if you give it a helping hand to start it spinning) so I have unplugged it totally (don't want it maybe bursting into flames) The aircond still works plenty ok, certainly while moving forwards at normal speed. It'd almost certainly work way less good if I's stuck in traffic, but that's almost never an issue with me anyway.

The hub of the fan detects the heat of the air. It's responsible for making the fan rotate faster. Probably need a new fan since it's mechanical.
