94 GTP, 3.4 no rear brake pressure

intermittant problem, stays for months goes away for weeks.Abs and check engine comes light on. When working rear calipers and pressure seem fine. Thought it was one of the two solenoids on the abs valve(sticking)but after looking at valve, each solenoid has a front and rear brake line going to it and the front brakes work fine. Any idea's on where to start.......thx

Would anyone have an idea of the cause of this problem and repair, while i get to a scantool. I am wondering if this will show up as a code again thanks for your help....

Have you taken the black plastic cover off of the bottom of the hydraulic modulator? One of the gears inside may have come loose. Be careful, don't lose the gear and screw.

Thanks Clare, what you describe sounds quite likely. I just found a TSB that describes this completely, would you know how to relieve the brake pressure without a scantool ? I thought i had read that pumping the brakes about

50 times, ignition off/engine off will do it but i am not sure. I am assuming that you have to pull the ABS/master cylinder out of the car and do this repair on the bench..........................thanx

I just loosened the lines and removed the master cyl ass'y - figured I had to replace it - and heard a rattle when I turned it over on the bench. So I pulled it apart and fixed it.

Clare didn't offer that, I did.

Why would you want to?

On the bench? WTF? There is an abundance of room to get the cover off, why make it any more complicated than merely removing the cover? I've repaired dozens and dozens of these and never once needed to remove the ABS modulator to do so.
